Government Relations Committee

Members of this committee are very involved with what is happening in our city and county governments. This past year saw a new involvement in the political arena which will continue as our members have seen what is needed to ensure fair treatment for our residents and owners. Over 130 of our members were certified as deputy registrars and there was a huge effort to get our residents and employees registered to vote. This committee is tasked with promoting our Better Government Fund on a state and local level. This past year saw involvement with storm water issues, flow control, impact fees and more. A military task force was formed with Fort Bliss to address issues pertaining to many aspects of our 'men and women in service". A taskforce is being formed to address the appraisals which were recently mailed out by the County Appraisal District. Eric Heller, Associated Properties is chairperson. Reach him at passociated@elpbizclass.com or call the association office. Demetrio Jimenez, Vice President, is the board representative and can be reached at jimeneztrop@aol.com

Communications Committee

This committee, headed by Chairperson Crystal Espinoza, cschmidt@integrityamc.com , and represented on the board by Director Amanda Chavira, amanda.chavira@capstonemanagement.com , is committed to "getting the word out"to our members about events happening in our Association.  Crystal has worked tirelessly during the past year to launch our new website. Final touches are being done now and help is needed when it launches to set rates for advertising and to "polish" our star venture. A telephone committee is also being formed to ensure all members know what is going on in the El Paso Apartment Association.

Education Committee

This committee encompasses all education programs offered by the Association. Our largest endeavor, Education Fast Track is chaired by Donna Walker, donna.walker@capstonemanagement.com , and represented by Director Nena Franco, nfranco@caseusa.com . Many people are needed to serve on this committee and ideas for programs to benefit our membership are always appreciated. Outside of EFT, this committee will be exploring, under the leadership of Mary Cardenas, Past President, marycardenas@elp.rr.com ,  the possibility of bringing CAMT (Certifed Apartment Maintenance Technician) and another CAPS class (Certified Apartment Supervisor) to our association during the 2009-2010 year.

Membership  committee

Mark Uren, muren@rentdues.com and Fawn Shirley are currently co-chairing the membership chairman. Membership is a crucial part of our association and those serving on this committee will seek apartments and rental houses in the area   and develop a program to ensure these entities are made aware of the many, many benefits of membership. This committee will develop a system to encourage participation of our new members at all levels in the Association. The development of programs for and by our vendors and encouragement for participation in programs to ensure the opportunity for new business is lead by Products and Services Directors Cindy Salinas, cindy.salinas@cort.com and Carmen Dosher, dosher.refrigeration@gmail.com . They are always seeking the help of vendors to determine new programs which will benefit our vendors.

Programs Committee

This is our "FUN" committee. With Chairperson Dinorah McCoy, keydee1@aol.com , and Board Representative Barbara Askins, barbaraa@wasteconnections.com , at the helm, you cannot go wrong. Being our strongest and largest committee (with over 30 active committee members, they meet every Thursday at noon at the Association classroom, with different members attending as they can. Board representatives Marissa Morales, info@lakefairway.com and Charlee Enriquez, cenriquez@resourseresidential com. have been extremely active since the beginning of this committee and will help you get active, whether a vendor or an owner member. If one of the other committees decides to run a project, the programs committee is where it comes to fruition. Whether it is a chile cookoff, a party for the retiring AE, a reception to honor TAA's president, our annual Western party or a chile cookoff, this committee enjoys the comraderie while planning and to date - they have never had a project which was less than a full success.

Marcia Heller, passociated@elpbizclass.com and Board representative Maria Stoiber, mariastoiber@yahoo.com welcome your support.
